Wachusett Cheer is open to all children from 2nd-8th grade in the Wachusett School District.
Conditioning Camp (Muddy Pond Field - Sterling)
Wachusett Tackle Football and Cheer will run a month long conditioning camp starting typically around the last week of July or the first week of August and run through the end of August. Practices are 4 nights a week alternating Monday - Thursday and Tuesday - Friday to allow families to enjoy the end of the summer with longer breaks between weeks. Practices are scheduled to meet between 6PM - 8PM.
Once school begins, practices will take place inside at a a school gym. Teams will meet 2-3 times a week depending on their level.
Teams will cheer at football games each week, typically on either Saturday or Sunday (determined by the season schedule).
The cheer teams are divided by age and ability for the season. They will participate in at least two local competitions. The first competition is called a Fun Comp. The teams perform their routine and are given feedback from judges to prepare for the CMASS competition.
The CMASS Competition gives Wachusett the opportunity to compete against the 30+ other organizations in the Central Mass region. If the teams place in the top 5 they then move on to States and possibly Regionals.
States are typically scheduled for the first week in November, and regionals are typically scheduled for mid-November. See Cheer Competition page for more detail.
